Background
Matt grew up around pools. His father started cleaning pools in Boca Raton in 1980 — that's 45+ years of cumulative family experience in South Florida pool service. Matt formally entered the trade in the mid-2000s and has worked on everything from single-family residential pools to high-pressure commercial environments.
Before founding Florida's Best Pools, Matt spent over a decade at Perfectly Pure, one of South Florida's established commercial pool service companies, where he managed and trained technicians across a demanding portfolio: the decorative fountains at Valencia Reserve, the water-park environment at Westlake Adventure Park, municipal city pool contracts, and hospitality clients. Commercial pool work means Florida Department of Health inspections 2+ times per year — one mistake and the pool is closed and fined. That level of accountability doesn't leave you.
Matt founded Florida's Best Pools to bring that commercial-grade discipline to residential service. Most residential pool companies send a technician with a checklist. Matt's team works from understanding the why — the chemistry, the hydraulics, the plaster cure science — so when something unusual happens on your pool, they know what to do.
Expertise
- New-plaster startups. The first 28 days of a new Diamond Brite or Pebble finish decide whether it lasts 8 years or 15. Matt balances chemistry in 3 days — industry average is 30–90.
- Green pool recovery. 10,000+ pool transformations. Mineral-based chemistry approach, self-contained vacuum system that doesn't trash your equipment.
- Commercial & HOA pool compliance. Florida Administrative Code Chapter 64E-9, ORP controllers, flow meters, log sheets, chemical storage requirements. DOH-inspection-ready every visit.
- Pool chemistry. South Florida-specific — calcium-heavy tap water in Boca, coastal corrosion in Delray, summer heat chemistry shifts, hurricane prep and recovery.
- Equipment diagnosis. Pumps, heaters (gas & heat pump), salt cells, filters (DE, cartridge, sand), automation systems.
