Fill water hits the fresh plaster. pH will spike high as calcium hydroxide leaches out of the curing plaster. If left uncorrected above 8.2 for more than 48 hours, permanent calcium scale forms โ visible white streaks down the walls. We add acid precisely and gradually (not dumping โ that etches), aiming for pH 7.2โ7.6 within 72 hours. Calcium hardness is monitored and adjusted. Alkalinity is held at 80โ120.
As plaster cures, fine particles release into the water. If not brushed off, they bond permanently to the surface creating a chalky haze that can't be removed later. We brush every visit, emphasizing walls, steps, and behind returns. We don't vacuum the first 14 days โ plaster dust through a filter destroys it.
