POOL REPLASTERING IN BOCA RATON — FROM $4,500.

🏠 White plaster · Diamond Brite · Pebble · 🛡️ Triple Guarantee · 📅 5–10 day turnaround

Your pool plaster doesn't last forever. After 8–15 years, even a well-maintained Boca pool starts to show it — rough patches, faded color, stains that won't scrub out, pebbles falling out, hairline cracks spidering across the shell. Replastering is how you reset the clock. One week of drain-and-refinish and your pool looks brand new — and feels better underfoot than the day it was built. Free on-site consult, flat quote, no pressure.

6 Signs It's Time to Replaster Your Pool

If you're nodding to two or more of these, you're not just due — you're overdue. Waiting makes the final quote larger because structural damage compounds under a failing surface.

🪨 Visible aggregate loss

The quartz or pebble aggregate is wearing through, leaving smooth cement patches. The surface is getting chalky. You can run your hand along and feel the texture is gone.

🟫 Persistent staining

Rust spots, green metal stains, or yellow-brown mineral stains that chemical sequestrant won't lift. Staining that deep has penetrated the plaster itself — you can't chemically fix it from the water side.

🏗️ Hairline cracks spreading

Spider-web cracks expanding, especially at the waterline and around returns. Hairline cracks are cosmetic at first, but they let pool water into the structural shell — which accelerates everything.

🧱 Hollow-sounding plaster

Tap the shell with the butt of a screwdriver. If it sounds hollow in spots, the plaster has delaminated from the gunite below. That's a spot-patch situation if small — a replaster situation if widespread.

🎨 Dramatic color fade

Diamond Brite's "Caribbean Blue" is now a washed-out gray. Your pebble has lost its rich tone. Plaster color ages; once it's flat or faded, restaining it isn't realistic — you replaster.

⏱️ Age alone (8–15+ years)

Standard white plaster: 7–12 years. Diamond Brite: 10–15. Pebble: 15–25. If yours is past the high end of its class and still looks great, amazing. If it's at the low end and showing wear, replaster before structural damage starts.

Replastering Finish Options & Cost in Boca Raton

Three tiers. Same prep and process — the difference is the finish you step on for the next 10 to 25 years.

Standard White Plaster

$4,500–$8,000 · 7–12 yr life

Classic white marcite. The original pool finish and still the most affordable. Smooth feel, bright classic blue water tone. Cost-effective choice if you're selling soon or budget-focused.

  • Cheapest option — $4/sq ft installed
  • Shortest lifespan; watch chemistry closely
  • Best for budget + short time horizon
  • Can show mottling within 2–3 years

Quartz (Diamond Brite, Florida Gem)

$6,500–$12,000 · 10–15 yr life

The South Florida sweet spot. Quartz aggregate mixed into polymer-modified cement. UV-stable color, chemical-resistant, smooth-but-textured underfoot. 80% of Boca pools go this direction.

  • ~$5–$7/sq ft installed
  • Dozens of colors (Caribbean Blue is the classic)
  • Hides minor surface imperfections
  • Best all-around value for most pools

Pebble (Pebble Tec, Pebble Sheen)

$9,000–$14,000+ · 15–25 yr life

The luxury choice. Natural tumbled pebbles embedded in cement. Textured, earthy, lake-like appearance. Longest lifespan by a mile — the "buy it for life" option. Pebble Sheen is the smoother variant, Pebble Fina is smoother still.

  • ~$7–$10/sq ft installed
  • Pay once, enjoy for 20+ years
  • Highest resistance to stains & chemistry
  • Textured feel — some love it, some prefer smooth
Triple Guarantee — Even on Construction Work
24-hour responsiveness · 72-hour quote turnaround · 100% money-back on startup-chemistry service if you're not satisfied.

How Pool Replastering Actually Works

8 steps, 5–10 days from empty to full. Here's what happens when you hire it done right.

1

Drain & Site Prep

Full pool drain, tarp deck, protect landscaping. Day 1 morning.

2

Chip Out Old Surface

Old plaster chipped back to gunite. Dusty, loud — but essential.

3

Structural Repairs

Crack repair, rebar treatment, spot bonding. Don't skip this.

4

Acid Wash & Bond Coat

Shell acid-washed and a bond coat applied so the new plaster adheres.

5

Plaster Application

Hand-troweled or pneumatic. A 3–5 hour window where it has to be done right — crew of 4–5.

6

Refill Begins Same Day

Water starts refilling within hours of finish application to prevent plaster from drying out.

7

Startup Chemistry

Critical 14-day startup: daily brushing, careful chlorine, balanced hardness. Messed up here = plaster damage for life.

8

Final Walkthrough

We inspect the finished work, confirm chemistry is stabilized, and hand the pool back to you ready to enjoy.

Best Time of Year to Replaster in Florida

In South Florida, timing matters more than most homeowners realize.

✅ Best: October – April. Cool, dry, low humidity, minimal rain. Contractor demand is lower so scheduling is easier. Your pool is ready for a perfect spring-to-summer swim season. Boca snowbirds love replastering in January — they land, it's done, done.

⚠️ Risky: May – September. Hurricane season. An afternoon thunderstorm can dump inches of rain into a freshly plastered empty pool and cause serious damage. Humidity slows cure. Any decent contractor will pause work if a storm rolls in — but then your pool sits half-done until weather clears.

🤔 Caveat: If your current plaster has failed badly — stains, cracks, water loss — don't wait 6 months. The damage accelerates. Call us and we'll walk the job, tell you honestly if it can wait or not.

Pool Replastering FAQ

How much does it cost to replaster a pool in Boca Raton?

Standard white plaster: $4,500–$8,000. Diamond Brite (quartz): $6,500–$12,000. Pebble: $9,000–$14,000+. Every quote includes drain, chip-out, structural prep, new finish, acid wash, and water refill/startup. Full pricing guide.

How long does the process take?

5–10 days from drain to refill, plus a 14-day startup-chemistry window before the pool is ready for normal heavy use. Day 1: drain and chip. Days 2–4: repair and replaster. Days 5–6: refill. Days 7–20: startup chemistry.

What's the difference between replastering and resurfacing?

Replastering IS resurfacing — specifically, resurfacing with plaster (white, quartz, or pebble). 'Resurfacing' is the umbrella term; 'replastering' is the plaster-specific version. See our replaster vs resurface guide.

Do I need permits?

Resurfacing often does not require a permit in Palm Beach County unless structural work is involved (tile, coping, or gunite repair). If permits are required, the licensed contractor in our network pulls them.

Can I just patch the bad spots?

Sometimes — if damage is under 10% of the surface and you have 3+ years of remaining life elsewhere. Past that, patching throws good money after bad. See our plaster repair page for the decision tree.

Will this hurt my deck or landscaping?

Chip-out is dusty and loud but contained. Drain water is routed away from the pool deck to a drain-safe area. Landscaping near the pool is tarped. In 20 years, we've never had a deck damage claim.

What about tile and coping?

Worth replacing at the same time if it's aged or damaged. The pool is already drained — it's roughly half the labor cost vs doing it separately. We'll quote both options. See pool tile replacement.
